Re: Prop Suggestions for 28M
One other advantage that came to me about the max prop is the outstanding performance in reverse. The blades go into a much more optimal position when reversing than a fixed prop, and the result is that you can really feel it bite when backing down. A couple seasons ago I was operating a friend's F3...

Re: Prop Suggestions for 28M
If I were you, I'd stick with the Maxprop. It's a really great device, as long as it's properly greased every year. You might want to check with PYI about what the pitch setting should be, and then confirm that that's what you have. They are very responsive. As far as fighting the current goes, it m...

Mark is still around, he helped me buy my boat! I believe he's still at Cape Yachts in South Dartmouth, you should give him a call.

Re: Dangers of offset companionways??
& please don't tell me that never happens with these boats! I sail my F38 hard . I sail in real weather, and I'm not afraid to go out when it's blowing 30kt. In my six seasons of sailing this boat, I have wet the rail exactly once. I cannot speak for other models, but the F36/38 just doesn't go ove...

Re: Sail material F45cc
The previous owners of my boat invested in laminate tri-radial sails back in 2007, and they're still going strong. The fact that they're tri-radial (as opposed to the standard crosscut) probably has as much to do with their longevity as the material from which they're made. They have a few small hol...

Woah, I've never seen anything like that. Very curious to hear if this is a thing, or just something a previous owner did to your boat.

Re: Yanmar 3gmf 20 water pump belt
Have you tried sticking a large screwdriver underneath the belt and turning the pulley so that the screwdriver rotates around it, and lifts the belt off? That always worked for me. If that doesn't work, maybe just remove the alternator entirely. Another thing that I wish someone had told me years ag...
