Re: New Freedon 25 owner checking in
The issue you may find with extra long shaft is keeping the lower unit (prop, skeg, etc) out of the water when all is quiet in your berth or mooring. You will almost surely have to park the motor in a tilt-up configuration, which may be fine, but may not be, e.g. if you want to berth stern-to. Also,...

Re: Freedom 25 (Hull) Line Measurements
Probably should have titled the thread "Hull Line Measurements."
If you are looking for lengths of running rigging, there is an inventory posted somewhere on this forum, but in my experience most of them are way too long.

Freedom 25 Line Measurements
Before launching this year, I took some lines from my boat, a 1984 round mast Freedom 25. Posting here for anyone interested. I can also post the spreadsheet if others would like to attempt the same.

Re: Freedom 25 update
Yes. In light air it helps the sail keep a fuller shape. Not to mention holding the boom up when the lazy jacks are released!

Re: Freedom 25 update
In the lazyjack photo, you can also see the teak block I made to attach a boomkicker, to avoid drilling holes in the mast for attaching it. I cut the block with a kerf blade set on an angle so as to cut out a radius that matched the curvature of the mast, and then epoxied the block in place. It has ...

Re: Freedom 25 update
FWIW, here's a couple of photos of my tillerpilot installation, IMG_0811.jpg IMG_0810.jpg and also a photo of a lazyjack improvement I'm going to be trying out this season. IMG_0814.jpg I mounted the connector for the Tillerpilot in the space below the lazarette seat, with the cord running out throu...

Re: nmea 2000 network
I found the attached information, found from trolling the internet, to be helpful. I was able to successfully interconnect a VHF radio, a Raymarine Tillerpilot, a handheld Garmin GPS, and a TackTick wind instrument.

Re: Beneteau wing sail and unstayed mast. option for us
There should be tension along the leading edge created by the downward pull of the leading edge sheet attached at the bottom, and the pennants attaching the top of the foil section to the headboard. Still, the leading edge would not be ruler-straight.

Re: New Mizzen mast build and price F35 cat ketch
Basing the righting moment on similar boats may be the best you can do, short of either (1) having access to the lines of the hull and a naval architect who knows how derive the righting moment from these, or (2) performing an in-water heeling test that pulls the boat over far enough to find the max...

Re: Beneteau wing sail and unstayed mast. option for us
It is a good point about adding weight aloft, as the F25 is fairly tender. The battens I've built are quite light though, just a few ounces each. Most of the weight would come from the sailcloth. If it's 25 yards of 6.5oz Dacron, that would be 8 lbs or so; call it 10 lbs with the battens. The center...
