Re: Camber spar

“The camberspar is designed to deflect the headstay several inches, automatically providing proper headstay tension to maintain an efficient leading edge. For this reason, the headstay should not be pretensioned, tighten the turnbuckle only enough to remove the slack in the wire.” Freedom owner’s ma...

Hi Pat,
I'll join the raft up. Just pulled the prop shaft which was an interesting task.

Re: Water coming in at shaft

Yes, they are. Call Paul at Warren River Boatworks in Warren, RI. He recommends a special unit from Tides Marine. The discussion with him is well worth the call.

Re: Antal two-way traveler winch install

The parts are all Harken. For the traveler car, use HBB197 Big Boat Non-captive Bearing Car Rebuild Kit. Yes, big boat. This is a big main. The major problem I had was removing the control cars at the end of the track as I mentioned in the prior message. Be gentle with an impact drill. If they loose...

Re: Antal two-way traveler winch install

If you are having a lot of trouble with the traveler, it is time to change the ball bearings. I have a '97 Pedrick 35. The ball bearings definitely needed replacing. Changed them this spring. Follow the Harken instructions. The only trouble I had was the screws holding down the control cars at the e...

Re: F35 Spinnaker Hardware Questions

Hi Mark, I run an asymetrical on my F35 Pedrick, used to run a symetrical spinnaker on my previous boat, a Freedom Mull 30 and was foredeck on a C&C 40 when I was racing. You definitely want to go to ATN for a sock. That is where the sailmakers buy their socks that they will sell to you. Turning blo...

Re: F32 Gunmout boom spinnaker camber spar jib

Most of the sailmakers don't make their own spinnaker sock. They get it from ATN Sailing Equipment. He does fine work. I've never had a problem, either with a symmetrical or asymmetrical. BTW, the owner is a Frenchman named Etienne. When he opened business in the US, people screwed up his name so ba...

Re: Mast track for F30

Many years ago, I had a Mull 30. It was our second Freedom after owning a 25 and cruising the coast of Maine in it. I remember asking this question of Mark Edwards several years after Freedom closed and he was working as a yacht broker. (And still is!) He immediately said "Yours is a MetalMast 30." ...
