Re: Camber spar too long?
I discovered (the hard way) not to connect the luff of the sail to the forestay until after the camber spar is fully attached to the sail, fore and aft. Sounds simple but it works.. I thought my sail was not cut right until I tried this.

Re: F35 (Pedrick) Windlass
I have the Lewmar Pro Fish installed by Paul Dennis. He said it is better to have the windlass above deck because it will corrode "less fast" than one below. Been trouble free. You do have to watch the pile in the locker. I have 100' of chain and 100' of rope. (When I sail near the Bay of Fundy, I w...

Re: Freedom 35 flag halyard
I took a piece of stainless tubing like used on a bow pulpit and mounted it to my masthead. One bolt thru the tube into a flat piece forward of the wind vane. Two u-bolts on either side to keep it from spinning. A small block on either end. I run a club flag or courtesy flag up one side and carry a ...

Re: solar panel system setup - request for advise
Hi Philip, Another member of Blue Water Sailing Club and I did a presentation on solar panel installations last year at Jubilee Yacht Club. I am attaching half the slides as pdf's now and will follow with the second half. Bernie designed everything from scratch. I went with a package from a dealer. ...

Re: Pedrick F35 rudder bearings....
Sorry to be late on replying to your email. Holidays and finding the pictures slowed down the process. Tides Marine makes the rudder bearing. Give them your year and model and they will guide you to the proper size. A couple of years ago, I towed a lobster bouy overnight caught on the rudder post wh...

Re: Deck drains blocked
Freedom installed 90 degree elbows to the thru deck fitting and at the drains just above the water line.. You can change those to straight fittings in most cases. If you dig thru the closets and lockers you can find where the drain come thru the deck. Follow the hose to the outflow drain. Use marine...

Re: GUN MOUNT
When we had a 30, we flew the spinaker frequently. It was a breeze. We couldn’t see well under the spinaker so we had the sailmaker take off the bottom two panels. Visibility was improved greatly. Once rigged you fly it with two fingersl Now have a P35 with an asymmetrical. More effort but great spe...

Re: Knot for reefing lines
I use a figure 8 and add a large washer between the knot and the sail to ensure that the knot doesn't pull thru.
