Masthead removal

Adding a wind sensor to my M28 masthead, and I'm planning to remove the masthead to be able to add zip ties, and possibly foam. there are two sets of 3 bolts on the front of the mast, which I assume you pull and the unit is free to come out. Anyone have experience/ suggestions on this? Thanks, John ...

Re: Cabin Walls

I am doing them on my M 28 using red oak w/Waterlox polyurethane. I made the template w/ luan strips and hot glue. I also scrubbed all the teak bulkheads and teak trim w/ 2 part Snappy teak. luckily the interior was oiled not varnished, so I didn't need to strip it. It cleaned up nicely, and now wil...

Re: SS Marine Hot Water Tank

Just an added comment, my HW heater on my M28 was disconnected by the PO. I took it out and tested it in the shop, and found it was the thermostat sensor( I shut it down at 160 deg.f.) I found an exact replacement at Sure Marine Service in Seattle. good outfit.. also found a pressure switch for my P...

Re: B&G Vulcan 12 R

Camino, thanks for the feedback, I'm planning to add the depth/speed/temp transducer now, and wind unit later, and eventually an autopilot. everthing will be tied in to the Vulcan, don't see the need for separate units, but we'll see. I'm old school, wary of "instrument blindness " prefer seat of th...

B&G Vulcan 12 R

Hi All, Looking at chartplotter options for my refit on a M28. The B&G looks good, adaptable for future additions, sail oriented (not a fishfinder) Last time I did any serious sailing, celestial and loran were the tools. Defender has a good price on the Vulcan 12R, but I need to figure out mounting ...

SYNTRON SHAFT SEAL MAINTENANCE

My M 28 w/ 2GM 20 F has been out of the water in 8 yrs, and I assume the shaft log is original. I hesitate to launch w/o maintenance to the seals. https://www.munacosealing.com/products/klozure-mechanical-seals/syntron-rp-mechanical-shaft-seals says they have repair kits, which can be installed in t...
