Re: Profile to F21 lifting rudder

Hi Ian, just noticed this post. I think this lifting rudder was standard on the UK twin lifting keel version of the F21. With the keels up it only draws around a foot, so a fixed rudder would not be too useful in that situation. If you are getting a new one having a profile certainly helps in strong...

Re: F30 Holding Tank Set Up Question

Yes that would work but you have at least one thing missing. The valve on the through hull, without closing that you would get flow to both OB and tank. Also you had another two way valve in one of your pictures (PXL_20220429_194015513.jpg), perhaps that was to stop the pump backfilling the heads, w...

Re: F30 Holding Tank Set Up Question

Yes difficult without seeing more. The second pic seems to be the trough hull for the heads. If that is so the writing next to it does not make much sense. Presumably head OB means the heads goes out directly to this through hull so it should be open. Not sure why you need to close it for tank OB. U...

Re: F30 Holding Tank Set Up Question

Hi Marc, You may want to look at the page below for various layouts of heads tank, through hull and deck pump emptying. I had to do some pipe tracing to understand the setup I had on an earlier boat and found this quite useful. As you can see most setups have a valve that diverts waste either into t...

Re: F21 First sail

Managed to get my F21 anti-fouled and in the water over Easter and got in a couple of days sailing in Milford Haven. I was surprised that, on the second outing, we managed to overhaul two much larger boats on a reach on our way to Dale. one was a ketch sailing jib and jigger, so not fully rigged. Ho...

Re: F25 Wingmast spinnaker setup

I have an F21 not F25 so can not give you lengths. However there is good reason to have a continuous line for the reigns. With separate lines from both ends of the pole, you are just adding more rope to the cockpit, which has enough from the clew lines and pole adjusters. My setup has lines direct f...

Re: Freedom 33/35 weight (centreboard version)

Moy, thanks to Archimedes, we know that displacement = weight. A boat will displace its own weight in water. However, to nominal you will have to add fuel, water, plus anything else not in the boat when originally delivered. Sorry can't help on stropping your 33/35, except for general issues, like a...

Re: F21 Blade jib management from the cockpit

We launched Rockin this week after a winter layup. Managed to get her anti fouled but not fully polished. My time down here is limited and I wanted to maximise the sailing. Anyway we took Rockin out for the first sail of the season yesterday and managed to test the cockpit management of the jib. It ...
