Re: Freedom 25 lifting keel

Yes I can see that now, quite different. Best of luck with your refurbishment. I had a similar experience, my F21 had been left on a trailer for almost 20 years in a yard. Luckily sails and spars were dry stored and survived just fine. In my case the trailer was toast! Hope you enjoy her when you ge...

Re: Freedom 25 lifting keel

I assume that is the same hull as the UK F25. Also the keel looks to be of similar proportions and ballast. How do you find it, does it sail well?

Re: Freedom 25 lifting keel

I managed to get some photos of the F25 (UK) lifting keel version and thought I would post them here for reference. The boat is for sale in the UK at a tad under £7K. I was interested but not really in a position to swap for my F21 currently.

Re: Freedom 25 lifting keel

Hi Jim,

thanks, I suspected that might be the case. Do you know anything about them?

Freedom 25 lifting keel

Does anyone here know anything about a lifting keel version of the Freedom 25? Have seen an F25 for sale on the uk with what looks like a hydraulically operated lifting keel. I'd be interested to find more information. Is it a uk only option like the F21, perhaps a one off, as I could find no inform...

Re: Carbon fiber spar/ cleat

Nylon is not the best material to use a glue. I would use a metal cleat and thickened epoxy if you want to avoid drilling, or better still fab a cleat from a scrap of wood and use the same thickened epoxy. I have fabbed oak retainers for my anchor and epoxied these to my deck.

Re: Jib without the camberspar

Mike, the camber profile of the spar is probably related to a NACA aerofoil profile. The simplest are the 4 digit profiles, e.g. NACAxxxx. The symetric profiles have 00 in the first two digits, the next 2 give the thickness as a percentage. I have used NACA0010 as a rudder profile to good effect. It...

yes I saw it a while back when I was thinking of getting a freedom 30 project (UK version of 28). This one was in better shape.

Re: Grounding Wire Question

I think it more likely the corrosion and zinc depletion are both symptoms of the same problem. Are you attached to shore power? I would suggest there is some inter-boat cell being created.

Sorry can't help with the wire.
