Re: looking at F25 what should I look for at inspection?

If you're looking as far as the west coast, have a look at mine too. It's in Vancouver, BC and in really good shape.

F30 flying engine control handle

So I'm backing the new-to-me F30 out of the previous owner's slip to take her to her new home. First time operating this boat. I nudge the shifter with my foot out of reverse, into neutral, then forward and the handle flies across the cockpit. Small moment of drama. I manage to run over, grab it and...

Re: Broken boom

Wow, Matt. I've never heard of an F25 boom breaking. Better the boom than the mast, though, I guess. My boom was made by Hall Spars, but I don't see any reason why a local maker couldn't replace yours. Let me know if you need any measurements.

has anyone replaced their rope clutches/jammers?

The old lewmar line jammers on my F30 aren't reliable any more. Any recommendations for new clutches? I'm thinking Lewmar D1s or Spinlock XAS.

bottom paint on keel

IMG_0266.jpg Anybody have any ideas what I need to do to get bottom paint to stick to this keel? I'll be hauling my new-to-me Freedom 30 for the first time this spring. Currently thinking about stripping the keel down to bare lead (which doesn't seem to go all the way up?) and coating with epoxy be...

Re: Fresh water tank

My F25's rigid poly water tank is under the starboard settee - about 10-12 gal. I'm pretty sure it's the original. I wouldn't be surprised if Ronco could sell you one that could work there.

Re: I just bought 1986 Freedom 36!!

Ah, I think I know the previous owner. This year's rendezvous isn't planned yet as far as I know. It'll probably sometime around mid July, but I can't remember exact dates at this point. You can email <nathansteve@msn.com> to get on the contact list. The first rendezvous was a couple of years ago at...

Re: I just bought 1986 Freedom 36!!

Did you buy the boat that's been around Vancouver and Shelter Island? And do you know about the PNW Freedom rendezvous in the summers?

Re: bilge

There's a manual pump in my F25 mounted above the port cockpit locker. The hose certainly has a circuitous route -- it takes more than 40 something pumps to get the first water out!
