Re: Freedom 32 throttle shift control

Can’t offer anything regarding your single lever control. Perhaps my boat came with separate throttle and shift, or was converted to that. Anyway it has been trouble free.

Now my really dumb question: How can I attach a photo? (It’s hell being old.)

Re: Freedom 32 Yanmar engine throttle and shift control

I’ll try to take and post a photo next time I’m at the boat.

Re: Freedom 32 Yanmar engine throttle and shift control

Sorry, no help here. We have separate controls for throttle and gearshift. You might also post on another forum, since your control was probably used on a number of other boat makes.

Re: Freedom 32 bilge crack

Sorry about your incident. Do not attempt to remove the keel It is bonded onto the keel stub, and trying to remove it would do lots of damage. Look carefully for any cracks at the aft end of the keel area where the nearly vertical aft edge of the keel stub meets the nearly horizontal hull. Unfortuna...

Re: F35 Maxprop settings

BTW after a yard mechanic completely fouled up my three-blade 14” MaxProp, another yard corrected it to the recommended settings I got from those nice folks at PYI, the adjustment marks “S” and “Y”, for a 24 degrees, a pitch of 11.8. My gear reduction is 1 to 2.6.

Re: F35 Maxprop settings

Stephen -
I suggest you call PTI in Seattle. They are the MaxProp agents and very helpful. Give them your prop diameter, gear ratio and engine hp and your boat spec. They will recommend the best settings. Also there are good videos if you are doing the settings yourself.

Re: Looking for Freedom 40 ketch aft cockpit

Regarding insurance, I have had good coverage and great service at a reasonable price on insurance through the U S Power Squadron program. Its administered by McGriff Seibels & Williams agency (800-476-2211) with Atlantic Specialty Insurance Co as the current underwriter. Find your local Power Squad...

Re: Rigid boom vang for an F38

Paul Dennis had a stainless steel colllar made for the base of the mast when we added our rigid vang 6 years ago. No problems, and we’ve certainly enjoyed not relying on the lazy jacks to support the boom when not sailing.

Re: Repower time - Freedom 32 Yanmar

Scott, to help those of still trying to get by, could you share what event or concern triggered your decision to replace the 3GMF? How many hours on the engine? Any rebuilds? What repairs or replacements have you had to make?

In other words, how will I know when it’s time?

Thanks,
Dale
