Re: F38 Mast Leak, Ready to admit defeat
Is it a casting that is brittle? It looked the stsinless bolts may have corroded a bit making it more difficult.

Re: F38 Mast Leak, Ready to admit defeat
Well, the planning was good but implementation?, not so good. I couldn't get the ring off. I guess ten years of not pulling the mast has its price. I didn't want to pry or heavily use the halyards to pull it up as I was afraid it might be damaged. I did, however, recaulk it indlucing the 1/4 inch sp...

Re: F38 Mast Leak, Ready to admit defeat
Thank you all. Inside the mast is no problem, it goes in the bilge but the water coming under/around the ring is killing the floorboards. One question (never having removed the mast) when I lift the ring will anything fall down inside the cabin? I don't now what holds all those bolts up through the ...

F38 Mast Leak, Ready to admit defeat
When it rains I get water around the mast into the cabin. I have wrapped like a mummy from the collar up with self sealing tape. I have caulked all around where the collar hits the deck. No signed up cracks or openings in the caulking. Only remaining answer is that the water is penetrating the bolt ...

Re: Stern Tube Length on F38
I guess moving the shaft seal 1/16 or 1/8 movement forward could be my limit. Thank you both.

Stern Tube Length on F38
I need to slide the Tides Marine shaft seal forward a smidge to see it that will stop the leaking. Does anyone have an approximation of how long the stern tube is? I assume (betting the boat on this) that moving it 1/4 - 3/8 will not create a risk.
Wish me luck.

Re: 3YM30 Alternator Belt question
Bob, I tried to find the conversion tool on the Gates site, can you send me the link? I 1) tightened the alternator belt and 2) sanded the alternator and motor pulley. The slapping seems to have gone away. Can't tell you which had the bigger impact but the combination worked. Thank you all for your ...

Re: Bringing Outhaul back to winches
Erik, I assume you had space in the, don't know what to call it, deck organizer? All six of my slots are occupied.

Bringing Outhaul back to winches
Every since I purchased Being There ten years ago the outhaul has always been tied off on the boom. I know if I brought it back to the winches I could actually get some power on flattening the sail when needed. However, there aren't enough rope clutches available. I would have to give up, for exampl...
