Re: Just Joining
Andy, that’s a nice looking boat with a lot of nice upgrades installed. My boat has an electric halyard winch. I use it almost all the time to raise the main from the cockpit. If it ever failed I can get the main almost all the way to the top by “jumping“ it at the mast with someone tailing in the c...

Re: Just Joining
Hi Andy, welcome to the forum. I have one of your sister ships as you will note from my signature below. There were no issues with my hull coring at survey and none in the six years I’ve owned her. The boat is very well-built in my opinion. The one thing I will say is if the headliner has not been r...

Hot water heater replacement F 35
Today I had to replace the hot water heater in my house, which seems to fail about every 10 years. The heater in the boat is heading into its 26th season. I don't plug in to shore power but I suspect prior owner(s) did. It was made by Atlantic Marine, and sits under the chart table. It won't be a fu...

Re: Cutlass Bearing
Dale, The black stuff is probably the rubber on the inside of the bearing, which is a metal sleeve that is pressed into the opening. I had to take the shaft out when I replaced it on my prior boat. Big job as it was in a skeg, not hanging from a strut. The yard didn't want to touch it. The yard will...

Re: Prepping floor boards for re-finishing
Mark, I have used a chemical stripper. This is from my post several years ago: I used a "non-toxic" product called Citristip. No strong smell, just faintly citrus not even noticed by the family upstairs in the living area. The old varnish came up easily after an hour or so after application with a pl...

Just wanted to say "thanks for sharing."
We are very fortunate to have Paul and others with a background in these boats to help us keep them afloat!

Re: Bat car replacement
Jerry, I can't tell who made your cars. If it was Harken, give them a call. They were able to send me a replacement car. They come in both metal (aluminum?) and plastic. I opted for the plastic as it was much, much cheaper, even though the original was metal. So far no worries after 2 seasons. Hope ...

Re: F35 P 1999
Hi Tom, I have a 1995 F 35, single water tank under the port berth. It does overflow to the bilge. Not sure why yours doesn't. As you know this is pretty inaccessible without ripping things apart. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. I didn't know I was supposed to change the anode on the hot wate...

Re: Edson Control cable--Pedrick 35
Hi Bill and Carole, Thank you for your reply. Between the thread you quoted and my Yanmar shop manual I was able to pin it down to an Edson 33 series cable with 10/32 threaded ends and a 3 inch throw. They make that cable in lengths between 6 and 18 feet at 2 foot intervals. It is 11 feet from the b...
