Hello. My wife & I have an offer on a 1982 F28 Cat Ketch with
wishbone rigs. Can anyone tell me of any problems which we should
look for during inspection? The boat has only been sailed in fresh
water and the hull was recently refinished. thanks, Brad.

Brad,
I would be a wee bit suspicious of a refinished hull just before
selling… and also, osmosis is always more of a problem on fresh
water than on salt water. So I would check for blisters and use a
wooden or hard plastic hammer to sound the hull for problems with the
balsa core. Voids between the two layers of laminate sound hollow.
Also check the masts for signs of corrosion around the holes for the
hardware riveted to the mast.

Is this the one that was for sale on Lake Champlain? I have an F-33 cat ketch up there at the moment (not for sale).
