Aluminium / Carbon Masts

Posted by david982242 (davidknhead@…>)

Please assist me with a choice I have to make. I am keen to buy a
Freedom 35, and have seen several with a choice of unstayed aluminium
and carbon masts. On the face of it they offer similar sail capability,
but some are not the wishbone boom style that I prefer.
What about lifespan? What do I look for when buying, as most surveyors
will not of seen many unstayed rigs?
The boat offers the best combination for me is an early 35 with carbon
masts and aluminium wishbones. Some articles talk of minor delamination
toward the upper sections Any views?

dk,There is, in this wondrous net somewhere, an archive of previous discussions here. The carbon/aluminum question has come up many times. I dont know how to access that archive anymore, but I am sure someone will be able to steer you in the right direction.Frankdavid982242 <davidknhead@…> wrote: Please assist me with a choice I have to make.
