An Invitation to Freedom yacht crew and owners

Hello Freedom yacht Owners. I have just joined your forum, but do not own a Freedom. (but nearly bought one a few years back!) I own a Tanton 43 - another unstayed-rig cruising yacht. I also am administrator of the Facebook group for owners of the other similar boats - ie Tanton 43, & 45. It seems to me that these boat have many similarities - and are sailed by lovers of fast easy cruising without expensive, unreliable wires! We have a lot in common. Including the problem of selling, as the majority of the yottie market seems to like the traditional rig form, which for cruising purposes is at a big disadvantage.

If you’d like to see what the Tanton owners are talking about please apply to join the group https://www.facebook.com/groups/350485464994881/discussion/preview and I will be pleased to approve you - please mention “Freedom owner” in your answers to the opening questions.

And of course, I shall also add that some of the advice and comparative issues in this forum will be of interest of course, too.

I have just had an article published in Sailing Today which addresses the issue of cruising with wire-rigged boats and the disadvantages of having an un-controlled genoa when sailing offwind…. and the comparative advantages of the Cat-boat and Cat-ketch among other unstayed rigs. See latest issue of Sailing Today….
