another good resource for parts

Posted by lance_ryley (lance_ryley@…>)

I found layline.com to get parts for Isomat booms, including boom
sheaves. My sections are NB-55 (big) booms, and the sheaves from
rigrite or shaeffer were about 12 ea for the acetyls. That’s a lot of
dough for two booms, both ends. layline has them for $5 ea.

I also found that Rigrite charged way too much for Isomat sheaves. I bought mine from a local rigger for half of what Rigrite wanted.

Schaefer does not make an exact fit for the F30’s boom (don’t ask me how I know).

that’s also a good point. unfortunately, on the web when you search
for Isomat, you get rigrite. besides their prices, I didn’t like
dealing with their answering service. I understand they recently had
a fire, but the phone operator could only take down part numbers
which they forwarded on to the company. I got faxed back a list of
prices, which I thought were pretty outrageous.

The guy I spoke to at layline said that whatever company isomat
became is right down the street from his location, so he’s able to
get the parts pretty easily.
