Are we having fun yet?

Are we having fun yet?..Hell yes! These boats
are incredible! I thing it was pure genius designing a boat with
this type of hull. Look at all the variations that it opened up.
Those guys were way ahead of the curve. I love to tell folks that by
today’s standards, I am sailing a “state of the art” boat that just
happened to be designed in the 70’s and 80’s. As owners, we all have
some serious “crowing rights” when it comes to the design and
function of our Freedom sailboats! Just how many boats can brag
about being able to withstand rollovers and pitch polling and still
come up swinging!

I get a kick out of those that say that the F33 is just a day
sailor! I have had mine so far in 50 Knot winds with confused 30’
seas. I would not hesitate to stick her nose into worse! Though
next time I will have a better boomvang control line! Even great
design will not make up for bad decisions made by the captain.

If you ever want to have more adventure than you can possibly stand,
wait till you are single handing in a big storm and cut the boomvang
line. You will not believe the fun you are about to have. Yikes!
Oh, did I mention having the main STUCK at the top of the mast during
all of this?. . . . . . . Just a day sailor, RIGHT! ! ! !

A while back I posted some info on the original
design of the F-33 based on information I got from J. Paris last year. He
designed the original F-33 (centerboard model). He had some interesting
comments on his choices. He wasn;t involved in the fixed keel modifications. If
you search the yahoo board for his name you should find it if your interested.
I agree with you its quite seaworthy. I
think calling it a day sailor is a complement though meaning its so easy to
sail.
