Boom Crutch Design Needed

Hi All,

Have you built a boom crutch for your Freedom 21? If you have, I
would appreciate your sending me a photo and your design. I will be
cruising the Erie Canal in New York this summer and need to keep the
boom above the cockpit. I can easily make one using a couple of 6
foot 2X4s with a bolt through the boards forming an X, but my guess is
that you have a more elegant design that would work better.

Hi All,

Bob wrote to me directly to ask if I meant that I would have the mast
and the boom supported on the crutch. The answer is yes. Sailboats
going through the Erie Canal must step their masts.

I have thought of simple X designs and more elaborate adjustable
columns, but figured that you have already invented this wheel.

Any advice will be appreciated.
