I broke the main halyard winch. Has anyone replaced one and if so what
make and model? The pcd hole spacing is 2 5/8" (67mm) and Lewmars is 2
9/16" (66mm). Do you think it would work make the existing holes in
the boat narrower to fit a Lewmar winch?

Using a well oversized hole saw remove the top skin of fiberglass
assuming the deck underneath is cored. Using a bent nail chucked into
the drill remove some of the surrounding core material outside the
area you drilled. Fill with epoxy that is thickened with colloidal
silica and microballoons. Make sure that the epoxy plug you’ve created
will cover beyond the point of the new holes. Sand the plug flush with
the surrounding area. Drill the new holes and mount the new winch. Use
an appropriate caulk like 4200, Boat-Life, or Sika Flex to seal.
Relax, have a beer. You earned it. Now clean up the surrounding mess
and go sailing.
