Another Question:Would buying a bigger winch for the main…be the same ease as the Milwaukee drill?Thank you allLola F30By the way the vinegar water is working to reduce the smell in the head…I use in a squirt bottle…3/4 water 1/4 vinegar. I also don’t use sea water…I closed that sea cock.

My preferred option is to change to Schaeffer BattCars for the battens.
Not too expensive, and can be attached to your existing slides, using
your existing track. I have two mains for my F25, one with, and one
without, Battcars. I raise the one with Battcars by hand; the other I
need the winch–still with difficulty. Charlie

Yes a cup of vinegar a week is the way to go. What are you
using instead of seawater by the way???

Installing the BattCars will also require
you to extend the in-between lugs so they are the same distance away from the
sail edge as the battcars. So its not just a simple matter of putting the
battcars on. Least that is the main reason I have not upgraded mine yet. I
have the cars from my old sail but I need to extend the plastic lugs out about
an ¾ “.

In addition to the battcars for the full length battens, you also
install the Schaeffer smaller & less-expensive “intermediate”
Battcars for the intermediate slides, and also the small car for the
headboard. So it is relatively simple and inexpensive–but you will
probably use your sailmaker to attach everything. All in all a very
good alternative solution to an old problem. Charlie
