The cabin lights are nice but the contacts for the bulb are really weak-
can get the light working (red or white bulb in same unit) but shortly
they won’t work again. Anyone have a solution to fixing these? I hate
to spend for new ones…

I have an '87 sloop but the same problem with the lights. In my case
it appears that the contacts on the bulbs get pitted, probably from
excess heat, and fail to connect to the power.
The only thing that works for me other than replacing the fixture has
been to change the bulbs.

Had the same problem with my F-36 1986. They sell replacement bulb sockets
at West. They are not easy to install however. I removed the old socket,
drilled the guts out of it, cut the new one open with a dremel tool to get
the gust out of it and glued it into the shell of the old. A better answer
might be to get a small drill and tap to prepare the new socket to accept
the screw to hold it in place.
