Thanks to all who have tried to help.
-I have tried several different ways of doing this. I think an adjustment is
needed to the spar itself. After bolting the spar to the jib per the
instructions I
almost could not get it on the hooks at the clew end. The spar now does not
even flip over the sail is so tight. It has just about 4 inches from center of
movement. It is very tight inside the slot. I can not even put the pin back in
place in the clew end.
-Not being able to speak to the first owner is a large or having none in my
area that I know of is a larg draback. I am looking for a rigging person in the
Branford/New London area to help me out with this or just another owner of a
F36. And Still we sail…

If properly rigged, the clew end of the camberspar on your F36/F38 should
not hit the mast. Are you using the special Freedom-provided fitting that
goes around the headstay and is bolted to the camberspar and the jib? If
not, get one from Freedom - they still sell this part (order the large size
for the F36/F38).Also, I was told by Steve Thurston, who made my new jib in 2003, that the
jib should be elevated off the deck to avoid chafe and to not affect sail
shape. My jib has a strap built in. But, you should keep the tack of the jib
attached to the forestay (to avoid interference by the mast) by a shackle
that will rid up and down the forestay as you raise and lower the sail.
