Cross-Country Boat Transportation

Posted by seekingfreedom25 (seekingfreedom25@…>)

Can anyone out there suggest a good way to find a reputable transport
company to move a Freedom 25 from one coast to the other? Also, any
ball-park estimates of how much to expect to pay?
I’m on the West Coast, and in another posting I’m looking for a
Freedom 25 for sale. So far I haven’t considered East Coast boats that
have been advertised, thinking that the transportation cost would add
another 50% to the cost of the boat.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi. I’m the guy from Florida with the nice F25for sale. You left me a
message. I recently (Nov.) had a 30 ft sailboat shipped from CT to Fl at a
total cost of about 5000.00. CA is a lot further. If you have any questions
about F25s please give me a call. Good luck! Bill 305 731 0286

When it comes to boat transportation, a lot depends on the “steady”
customers the transport company has. I recently moved a Mull Freedom
28 from Fort Lauderdale to New Bern, NC for $1500. The company moved
two boats down to Florida, and picked up mine and one other on the
way back. An important part of the cost is whether you can
accommodate the transport company’s schedules (they HATE to move
their vehicles empty of paying customer(s)). Whoever needs to move a
boat should discuss their needs with boat transportation companies at
both ends of the move in the hopes of making a deal that seems sweet. Herm

I’ve used Deepwater Transport in Washington, NC twice and have been
very satisfied. There are lots of boat manufacturers in our general
area, and Deepwater may cover the US in their deliveries. Herm

This time of year there isn’t a whole lot for sale. In spring you’ll
start to see more boats hitting the market. Most owners realize
they’ll sell their boats for more money if they sell them right before
or during the sailing season. I’d give it some time before spending
money shipping a 25 across the country. That’s money you’ll never
recover. It’s not like buying new sails or an engine which add value
to a boat.
