Datamarine manuals and or advice

Posted by Larry and Linda Kraus (kracherlandl@…>)

Looking for some Datamarine information.

Hi all,

Linda and I launched our F32 yesterday. Most all went well, except my
depth sounder is displaying a false reading. It is reading 1.6-1.7 feet
in our 7-8 ft berth. Too late to upgrade this year, so I have to get
this working for one more season. I did remove and rebuild the teak
instrument panel, and install new VHF and stereo radios this offseason.
Perhaps I wired the small instrument electronic gizmo incorrectly, or I
need to recalibrate zero, or change units. I dunno… Both new radios
work, so I’m not a complete idiot. But I need to get the depth sounder
working. Does anyone have: an old datamarine manual, wiring diagram, or
knowledge of the whereabouts of someone with working knowledge of the
old datamarine electronics?

Any guidance would be appreciated.

It is possible that the Depth sounder has been programmed for Keel offset? Since a F32 drafts about 5ft, this would make sense. Did you try to do a google seach? Sometimes even old inst. had manuals on line.

Van

I suspect that it’s reading the depth BELOW your keel as a
consequence of someone setting a “keel offset” in the instrument.

No, I don’t know how to reset the instrument. Check with

If I remember correctly there’s an
adjustment switch on the back of the instruments.

Re: DMI – I contacted them last year and they were still
there and there is another outfit in the Cape not far away who also claim to be
the inheritors of Datamarine parts and expertise, can’t remember their
name right now. Speak to Steve Meleo at DMI --(508) 564-7491.

Hi guys,

I have an old datamarine sounder I removed from a boat I was working
on. It was a running take-out and I can also get ahold of the
transducer, I think when I return to New Orleans to complete that
job soon. I can also get the manuals at that time. Your welcome to
any or all of that stuff as I’ve no immediate need for it I’d rather
see someone on the list get some use of it. I’m Thatboatguy and my
email is at Gmail. I figure if it’s just wiring you can figure it out
from the manuals and if you need a display this one should be ok and
if it’s the transucer you can mount this one temporarily from a swim
ladder or do the shoot thru hull thing to get through the season.

Let me know.

Hey George…can I get second in line for your kind offer in
case “Windsonnet” doesn’t need/want them. I too have the old Datamarine
Corinthian instruments on my F28CK (hull#2) and they would be much
appreciated. Thanks… Cheers, David

I didn’t know how popular I would suddenly get but Laurence is second
in line already. Sorry. I will keep my eyes open though and anytime
I get some more of these (which happens from time to time in my
business) I’ll put them up for grabs.

Hi all,

Larry from “Windsonnet” here. At the time of my original e mail, I
didn’t realize that Datamarine was still in business. I have spoken to
them and they have some manuals in stock. On my next trip to the boat, I
have to get the model numbers off my instruments. Once identified,
Datamarine will send me appropriate manuals for $10 each. So George,
thank you for the kind offer but take me off the list for needing the
manuals, and send them to someone else who is in need. Thank you all for
your kind assistance.
