I am considering buying a late 1990’s F-35. However, I am concerned with what I
would
consider an excessive amount of crazing in the Deck gelcoat. I have heard that
the
Freedoms had some problems with leakage around the ports so it has my attention.
Crazing has been noted around the ports both fixed and opening, along the mount
traveler mount and especially pronounced near the scuppers. A real distraction
to an
otherwise pristine boat. Thoughts?
If you are referring to tiny “spider cracks,” I have some on my 1991 F38 near the traveller and aft corners of cockpit, all of which have been described to me as locations that handle great loads. My broker (Mark Edwards of Freedom) and my surveyor were not concerned about it, apparently cosmetic issue only, and easily repaired. I don’t know how extensive yours may be, and I don’t have any around ports (and have had no port leaks).
