Hello!
Jordi and me would like to stard a round-the-world sailing trip this
winter and we are looking to buy the perfect boat for this purpose. We
have just been offered a Freedom 44’, beautiful and confortable
inside, with a huge mainsail and a gib. As we don’t know anything
about this type of boats, we would like to know if it is a good and
stable sailing boat, and if the facy that there is no rigging on the
boat is some kind of handicap. Thank you very much in advance for
sharing your experience with this kind of boats with us. We might
become future Freedom sailors.
Kind regards
Cristina

Christina,
If it has a jib, it can’t be a Freedom 44. Probably it’s Freedom 45,
the largest and most recent model Freedom built. I can’t give you
details on how the F45 does in heavy weather on ocean passages.

Hello Michel,
You’re right, it is a 45. Do you know any other details about the
sailing of this kind of boat? Or do you know where we could find
information or who would know something? We like the boat, a lot of
work has been done on it and it is very well kept, but we have
absolutely no idea how the boat reacts while sailing and how safe this
kind of rigging is.
Thanks for your help.
Regards
Cristina

Make sure the sails have enough reefing points. Many of the bots have
had their sails replaced by now and that is one way to save money.
