We have a 1986 Freedom 36 with a Yanmar 3GM30 engine. When we bought
the boat 3 years ago the engine cut-off cable was frozen and we
replaced it. Now it has frozen up again. I understand that this is,
at least in part, caused by the angle at which the cable is mounted
and the fact that it is exposed to the elements all the time. Has
anyone relocated the cable and if so, where? Has anyone tried putting
some sort of cover over the cable or the whole engine control panel?
Any other ideas? I’ve just replaced the cable again but would like to
find a better solution.
