My F-30 has an anti-siphon valve in the storage compartment of my top step and
it’s
leaking. My boat yard couldn’t repair it so it looks like I need a new one.
Does anyone
know who makes this valve? Did Freedom make it? The boat yard says it’s not a
Yanmar
part and I would love to replace it with something that would fit in the same
location.

There is a standard Volvo fitting for this: just goes into the water hose (?
diameter) so
would work for any engine, but, as with all Volvo parts, you may need to
re-mortgage your
house to buy one!

Hi Scott -
I changed the anti-siphon valve on our F45 this year for a host of reasons while ferretig out an engine problem. Ironically, the company that makes it is Scott Marine - and it is called a vacuum breaker. Try the web or your local supply or of machanic to order one.

There was a discussion about this part on the list in the past. Apparently, it is no longer made. Mine leaks a little and I’m just living with it.

I was the one who brought this up last year, and I got the last
replacements from Freedom. However, someone–I think Mark Edwards said
that the anti-siphon valve made by Vetus and sold by West Marine would
work as a replacement. The picture in the catalog looks a bit large to
fit in our step compartment, and I would like to know if anyone has
used it.
Assuming you are referring to the antisiphon valve on your exhaust
system. You can make your own. Place a bronze tee in the cooling
water injection line. Off the tee run a small dia. hose as high as
possible and connect a check valve oriented so as to block water
flowing from the engine. You can eliminate the check valve and
continue the run of small dia. hose back to a drain point such as a
tee in a deck scupper. The small dia hose prevents too much cooling
injection water bypass and provides all the siphon break you need.

Thanks!
I saw that valve made buy Vetus but West Marine told me that it was back
ordered. I also
found “vented loops” made buy Forespar and Groco that might work. I e-mailed
Freedom
about this but they never answered me. Now that I know that they no longer
stock the old
antisiphon valve, I will go ahead and formulate a new plan…
