F-25 mast

I broke the mast on my Freedom 25 (1982). Does anyone have a
replacement that they want to sell? I am considering a repair of the
mast also. Any thoughts on how to approach this predicament?

Ouch! The mast is repairable but you better be profficient at carbon
fiber layup and construction and vacuum bagging. Not for the novice.
I would think a commercial fix would be quite expensive. A fellow in
Great Britain broke his and said the repair bill was $4k as I
remember. I think finding another mast is an easier idea. There’s
probably some basket case boats out there cheap. I’m selling my 1982
in “fresh water” excellent shape for $10,500 so a junk boat should be
less than half that with a mast. I’ve also considered converting the
boat to a sloop. I actually approached Gary Hoyt with the idea at a
boat show. He said it would be quite possible with some
modifications. I would assume you would need reinforced bulkheads
for the chain plates and a reinforced deck for the mast step. But
then again you might as well go buy a sloop ready built. Good luck
let me know how you make out.
