Al,
I agree: just contacted him. He’s sending the part. It will save me the trouble of a dive and groping around in the murky Chesapeake waters. Regards, Ed

My pleasure. Dave Bierig is a very nice guy. He’s the one who told me about tying the part on. (It was missing when I bought my boat.)

Al,
Thanks for your your reply. You are correct. My fuzzy description was inaccurate in that the jib must be correctly identified as a camberspar, not as a “hoyt”. Freedom did not have the part. I will be contacting Bierig Sailmakers. Your information is of great value. Regards, Ed Cywinski

Indeed, both Freedom and Bierig Sailmakers have the part, but if that is the part you need, you have a CamberSpar jib, not a Hoyt jib boom. The Hoyt is the one that physically attaches to the deck sort of like an “L” on its side. The CamberSpar was invented by Dave Bierig, Bierig Sailmakers, Erie, PA, 814-459-8001. There’s a small hole in the part which can be used to attach a small piece of line, the other end of which is loosely tied to the forestay. If you do that, you never need another one.

Just give them the forestay size.— In freedomyachts2003@yahoogroups.com, “edwardcywinski” <ecywinski2@c…> wrote:> > This spring I will be diving in attempt to find the part that couples > my hoyt jib boom to the forestay.
