F-36 standing water near transom

Posted by William A. Cormack (wacormack@…>)

Yesterday I decided to complete installation of a radar reflector directly below my radar unit which sits on a pole in the stern. This requires removal of the pole and laying it down on deck.

Surprise!! I found two gallons of water in the space aft of the aft berth next to the rudder post. I don’t know how it got there but suspect it came down the radar’s pole and found no way out. Hurricanes Bonnie & Charley both dropped a lot of water over the last ten days. I was surprised that none came down the mast (at least not a noticeable amount).

Has anyone run into this problem and found a solution?

Obviously ypu have a seal problem, starting with the radar post
first. In addition, your limber hole is plugged. Any water in that
aft compartment should drain to the bilge. At the bulklead, adjacent
to the rudder, in the low spot is a limber hole. Clear the
obstruction.
