Not sure what you call it…
Does anyone have available to sell one of those plastic pulpit
inserts for directing the spinnaker in and out of its sock?
Thanks,
Tricia

Tricia,
If you find what you're looking for, let me know. I've got a Freedom 21 and am looking for the same thing for my spinnaker.

Allen- I had a F-21 and it didn’t use a plastic scoop. The bag just laced to the
pullpit. Now
I have a F-25 and need the “chute scoop”. So if anyone has a lead on on of
these, let me
know too. If need be, I may be able to clone these if I had one for a mold.

Thanks. I was sailing the boat with a friend yesterday, and he asked where the bag for the spinnaker was. Then I saw you looking for a similar thing. I've had the boat about two months, but am continually impressed with its performance. I usually sail Ravens, Etschells, and International 210s. This is a different breed of cat (no pun intended). Now if I can only figure out what those four pulleys are for at the bottom of the pulpit...and how to correctly rig the staysail... The pointy part goes on the halyard, the other pointy part hooks to the clip-deal on the gun-mount sleeve, the third point...I dragged it through the pulley right in front of the main mast, then took it to the left and ran it through a couple of holes back to the cockpit. Seems to work okay so far. I take it there's no way the main, staysail and the spinnaker can be up and running at the same time. There doesn't seem to be enough halyards for that. When I ran up the staysail and pointed it up into the wind, it did well. Much better than without the sail. Maybe I'll give the J-24s a little more challenge. They keep coming over and asking me, "what is that (boat)?"

Allen,
In the “files” section of this group’s homepage is a F25 manual with
drawings showing how the spinnaker is rigged. It’s a bit of a pain to
set up, but great fun to sail.
All the best,

Hi Allen-
Regarding the halyards, my F-21 had an extra internal halyard installed that
just tied off at
the base of the mast. My F-25 has one too. It is an external halyard, with just
a block
mounted to the mast below the spinnaker halyard sheave. I never tried using the
stay-sail
and the spinnaker at the same time on the F-21. Hoyt says to use the stay sail
in winds
<10 knots as I recollect. My F-25 is rigged differently with a round mast and a
camber-
spar jib that pretty much flies all the time. I’m still working on rigging up
the spinnaker. I
need the plastic ‘chute scoop’. Then I can try flying the jib a spinnaker
together. I’ll have to
look how the bigger boats with this configuration do this…
I used to pass J-24 and Catalina 30’s all the time in mine. They usually turned
some other
direction when they saw I was gaining. Down wind you’ll pass lots of boats.
Most won’t
be willing to go to the bother of putting up a spinnaker, but it’s easy even
single handed
with the Hoyt setup. I did it the first time I went out, and I had never sailed
a boat >14’
with a spinnaker before!
