f35: adjusting sail

Posted by hansenandrewjames (hansen@…>)

I am considering buying a 1995 F35, but am concerned that the boat only
has two sails (main and self tacking jib), which might limit
flexibility for heavy or light winds. As winds build, I understand
that the second reef is put in the main at ca 25 knot winds. What is
the sequence sail shortening if winds continue to build? It appears
the boats for sale do not carry storm jibs or trysails, so does one
drop the main in higher winds and rely on the working jib? Can these
boats be fitted with storm sails? For light air, I see some F35s are
equipped with geneoas, tracks, and cockpit winches and cruising
spinnakers. Do these offer much benefit in light air? How expensive
is it to add these items to a standard F35?
