F40 Simena for sale again in the UK

Posted by michel.capel (michel.capel@…>)

Guys,

I just noticed that former Dutch Freedom 40 Simena is on the market
again. It’s a rare opportunity for somebody in Europe wanting to buy
an F40!

Good luck

Hi Michel,
Do you have any web location or telephone number for the F40 Simena?

Besides, you seem to have stuck your arm up to the elbow into a hornets nest
with your comments about this so called freelance writer. Never mind!

Greetings,
Peter

Peter,

About the hornets: I hope they will go away again …

About Simena: look at:

At their Plymouth office, ask for Brian Butler, if he still works
there. He’s the English version of Mark Edwards; probably the most
knowledgeable and longest Freedom involved person in Europe. Almost
all Freedoms for sale in Europe pass through the hands of broker
Ancasta.

I know the Dutch chap who owned Simena. It’s a deep keel version
without centreboard. At the time she was still in the NL’s, she was
stored on shore each winter.

Good luck.

Michel

Michel,

Thanks for your hint pointing at Ancasta’s homepage. In the meantime I
already found the boat offered at Yachtworld.com too.

I am only interested in the centerboard version, so this one is not for me.
Also the price tag for Freedoms offered in the UK is almost twice that of
similar boats on the other side of the Atlantic. Even if you consider that
this one is maintained well above average standard, I think this discrepancy
ist not justified.

Thanks again for your efforts. I’ll keep on searching.

Peter,

About the price difference: keep in mind that you have to pay VAT
(16% to 20%), depending on the country of entry in Europe, and
transport costs, is you ship it over to Europe. VAT has to be paid
over the transport costs as well. Mind you that I paid $22,000 to
get my F44 shipped from Mobile AL to Flushing, NL. This includes a
1000 mile truck haul.

On the other hand, it’s evident that the generally higher price
level in the UK is reflected in the price of second hand yachts.

Greetz,

Michel
