An accidental jibe ripped the gooseneck out of my mast on my Freedom
21 yesterday.
I seem to remember alternative repairs being discussed on the old
board. I think one solution referenced a shop that fashioned
stainless collars
as replacements.
Any suggestions?
Is there any way I can search the old messages?
Thanks!

- Garhauer Marine Hardware makes collars at reasonable prices for
Freedom carbon masts, to attach the solid vang. They could probably
help you if a collar is the best way to go. 2) A few years ago I saw
a sailor repairing a mast fitting using a “molly” such as you use on
sheet rock walls. I believe he said it was stainless. This might help
if you tore a large hole where the rivets attach. 3) I tore out the
bottom rivets on the track on my F21, and a friend filled in the
rivet holes with some super strong substance, and then drilled holes
and screwed or bolted the track back. He was unable to find the
rightlength monel or stainless rivets to rivet the track. Freedom
told him that they are now screwing/bolting on the tracks on new
boats. 4) Before fixing the track, my friend simply affixed the lower
track onto the mast with stainless hose clamps around the
mast and track. I sailed two races holding the track on with the
clamps. If you’re able to reaffix the fitting with rivets or
screws/bolts, you might reinforce it with a hose clamp or two around
the mast and gooseneck fitting. 5) After you get it fixed, tie a knot
in your mainsheet at the proper spot to prevent your boom from
wrapping around the mast again! Good luck. Please let us know how
this turns out for you.

I broke the gooseneck on my F-25 (same). I simply took it to a
metal shop and they were able to repair it within two days. They
could have even fabricated a new one by following the measurements.
Check the yellow pages for machine shops in your area.
To mount it I bought stainless steel rivets and popped the new one
on. It was hard drilling out the old rivets so you may have to go a
size up.
Good Luck!!!
