Freedom 25 battery problem

Posted by simon_dubberley (simon@…>)

I’ve just returned from the boat yard clutching two shagged batteries
which are both only about six months old. Both batteries will not
accept any sort of charge. All the electrics had been switched off
when the boat was hauled out six weeks ago. Has any clever person got
any ideas what could of caused this problem?

You may very well have electrical devices that are hardwired to your
battery. A bilge pump is normally wired this way so you don’t switch
off by accident. If your bilge pump got stuck in a run position, it
would drain one or more of your batteries depending on how it was wired.

My refrigerator is wired this way due to the length of the cable run
if I wired it through the circuit breaker panel.

I don’t suppose you let them run out of battery acid. That would also
prevent them from taking a charge.
