I have decided to replace the knotmeter & depth sounder on my Freedom 36, #77. In the early editions of these boats, the knotmeter was mounted just aft and starboard of the mast. The depth sounder was mounted just forward of the mast under the cabin sole. The knotmeter does not read symmetrically when sailing on port & starboard tack. For this reason, in later boats the transducers were mount much further forward under the V berth.
Can anyone with transducers located under the V berth: 1) comment on the accuracy of knotmeter on port & starboard tacks, 2) tell me how far forward the knotmeter transducer is from the V Berth bulkhead, 3) tell me where the depth sounder transducer in mounted?
Thanks

Both depth sounders and knotmeters work best if working in smoothly
flowing (non-turbulent) water. This means that it’s best to be
forward of the keel. Herm
