Freedom Ownership "Transition"

Posted by dbwnycl (dbwnycl@…>)

Is anybody aware of/have details regarding any pending changes in
ownership of Freedom Yachts? I don’t think any more Freedoms will
ever be produced in RI, but I am concerned about customer support…
especially engineering specs. and other documentation that might be
lost forever.

I don’t know anything specific, but at the ‘yard sale,’ they said they
were going to be producing two new freedom sailboats and had a bid on
producing a ‘conventional’ class boat for NY Yacht Club.

But someone else at the same day said that the molds out back were in
pretty poor shape and they’d need to have a lot of work done (hence
they’d need a lot of ‘incentive’ to clean them) before they’d make
sailboats again.

I understand that they’re talking either with investors or new owners who have a
background in sail as well as power.

Hi all. Great to hear Freedom may still be a marque in
production.

Funny, how time changes everything, isn’t it? When we
got back just now from two weeks out in the San Juans,
all the sailboats on “charter row” were out in
service. All but one or two of the power boats were
sitting idle. Meantime, forever reading all those free
marine publications, it appears that MV’s prices are
dropping dramatically. While SV’s seem to be holding
their prices as compared to a couple summers ago.
Here, SV’s are also turning over in title very
quickly. Don’t know what it looks like in Canada, or
other parts of the US, or Europe, but I think TPI may
have a freshening market. hope so. Sure
do love mine!
