I have a Groco head and it will dry pump, but will not wet flush. I
have verified that the water is delivered to the head. Could the
wet/dry value be bad? Any ideas?
Thanks,
Mike Sheehan

Hi. I replaced my Groco head this Spring (F32 Hoyt). Just an
FYI . . . The rebuild kit is approximately only $40.00 less than a new
Groco head, however, the new Groco head now has a bronze base which is
much better than the plastic, but the mounting holes have changed so
you will have to drill new holes and plug up the old ones. Had I known
it before I took the new head out of the carton and assembled it, I
probably would have changed to a Raritan.
I presume you took your pump assembly apart already and checked all
hoses and elbows for clogs. Perhaps your rubber plunger has become
inverted. If that’s the case, it may last a while longer by simply
popping it back the correct way, but if it has become that pliable, it
may not last the season. Good luck.
Note: On the F32, it takes two to remove a head as one person needs to
be laying on the aft cabin floor with their arm through the very small
access hole behind the molding.

The gasket/valve system has probably gone bad. You can get rebuild kits from Defender.com for about $45.00. It includes more than you will need to fix your problem, but includes new joker (one-way) valve, new gasket for bowl base.
There is a blow-up on Groco.net website.

I called the Groco help line (phone nbr on their web site), asked for
the “toilet department”, and got a VERY helpful guy who walked me
through what I needed to do. Groco does not sell parts direct to the
public, but they do repairs.

I’d consider relocating the Groco to a dumpster and buying a Lavac to
replace it. With a Lavac there is practically no maintenance and the
pump is a Henderson MK 5 bilge pump (mounted separately) which can be
easily rebuilt in situ.

Hey Dave,
I like the idea of relocating to a dumpster. Did you have a Lavac in place on
Entropy?
