Hoyt 32'' lines

Posted by Peter Bennett (papabenn@…>)

Doe anyone have a good solution to the mess of lines in the cockpit of
the 32? With a total of 8 lines (including boom vang and traveler), I
have a big mess and just wondered if line bags were the best solution
or what most other boats have as a solution to this problem. A picture
would really be helpful. Thanks, Peter

Hi Peter,
I made 2 sheet bags for my lines, I will take pictures and
send them to you. They have a kit in the sailrite catalog which I
used and find them very workable.

I agree it is a mess. West marine sells bags but they seem
rather high priced to me. Any other input appreciated.

On my F-33 where the winches are on cabin top there are hooks
with elastics so the lines when coiled hang neatly on the back of the cabin
sides facing the cockpit.

For my mizzen sheet I use a Velcro attached to my stern lifeline
and just loop it through. I know the F32 may not have a similar situation but
this is a fairly simple arrangement.

I have the same thing for my F-32. There are little
plastic hooks with loops of elastic. 4 on each side. I think Davis
makes them. Very inexpensive. They were on the boat when I bought it,
so I assumed that they were standard equipment.

Due to the sun in South Florida, I have to replace the loops of
shock cord every 6 months. I wish someone made silicone based shock cord
that would not degrade.

This system works very well for us.

Greetings,
Here is the link to the Sailrite sheet bag kit. If I can
make one, anyone can.

Good luck, and I’ll send pictures in a few days.

Those hooks, called line hangers, are available at West Marine #
142604. I have them on my F-28. You need to replace the shock cord
when sun deteriorates it, but the hooks last a long time. Herm
