Looking for Freedom 40CK

Posted by johnruss40 (johnruss40@…>)

Greetings from the UK

I’ve always admired the old Freedoms, though I’ve never actually seen
a 40. Ideally I’d like to get my hands on a centre cockpit centerboard
version on this side of the Atlantic. Nothing that I can see
advertised fits that bill exactly. I’m in no rush, but does anyone
know what the chances are? Were many centerboard/centre cockpit ones
built over here?

Thanks
John

John,

Welcome to the Freedom community. I think that most F40s built by
Western Yachts in Penryn were long keel aft cockpit versions (no CB).
There is one on sale now at www.ancasta.co.uk. Contact Brian Butler of
Ancasta in Plymouth. He’s their man for Freedoms and is that for more
than 10 years now. He’s very knowledgeable and most Freedoms sold in
Europe go through his hands.

(I have no commercial interest in Ancasta nor Freedom Yachts)

Michel,

I’d really be looking for at least 2 of the 3 attributes (centreboard,
centre cockpit,& this side of Atlantic). Will chat to this chap in
Plymouth. There seems to be an aft cockpit one in England and a centre
cockpit in France. The centreboard bit is really the stumbling block
but it does strike me as highly desirable.

Thanks
John
