Thanks all. Good stuff. I was thinking the whale gusher was the
correct model based on pictures and such. Your response has pretty
much conviced me this is the case (I do have the tubular handle with a
yellow rubber grip at the end)
Al, would appreciate any feedback you have when you complete your
rebulid then its off to the catalogs.
Thanks again.

Mike:
Hope this is still timely, but I finally got around to buying and
installing a new gaiter on my cocpit bilge pump. It is indeed a
Whale Urchin and the gaiter is part no. AS3725. It is actually
intended to keep water out of the unit; it has nothing to do with
the pumping action. The gaither is held in place (as is the entire
pump assembly) by bolting through a black plastic ring on the
coaming (at least it is on my F30). If you buy part no. DP8904, you
not only get a new gaiter, but you also get an off-white ring with a
fold-down cover that not only protects the pump but looks a lot less
conspicuous. Needless to say, given the chance to spend more more,
I bought the latter.
Cheers.

Al,
Perfect timing! I was just catching up on the board and saw your
message. I’m heading out to the boat in two weeks, just enough time to
order the replacement gaiter. I saw the fold down cover on the whale
web site…very cool. I’m buying one of those too.
Thanks again,
Mike
