Mast "partners"

Posted by hxschiller (schiller@…>)

My '87 Freedom 28 was disassembled by a yard at point of purchase. As
a consequence I am now facing a mystery. I’m looking at a circle of
threaded studs on the inside of the mast hole in the cabin top, but
cannot find anything that looks as though it should be held by these
studs. I have a set of acorn nuts that match these studs but nothing
else.
Is there a ring that is missing, or are the nuts simply put on these
studs (are they bolts?)?
Also, how is the carpeted trim ring fastened to the cabin overhead
once the mast is in place?

Doing this from memory and the 28’s manual will tell you all this stuff, but there is an aluminum ring topsides that gets siliconed when you reposition it, plastic wedges to center the mast, that go between the mast and the cabin top, and a trim ring that goes around the mast on the inside up against the cabin top. I believe that is secured with screws.
