Launched my baby last Sunday (an adventure in and of itself). Looking
to step the mast this weekend. I’ve read all the documentation on it
and it looks pretty straightforward, but with this being my first time
I’m sure I’ll find some way to make it yet another adventure.
Any “lessons learned” by you more seasoned folks on things to look for,
things to do, things NOT to do? I’ve got several friends lined out to
help me do the labor since the marina’s crane is down and looks to be
for a while.

Take this opportunity to add an extra angle at the foot of the mast. I wish I
had now that I get “twisting” sounds on starboard tack.
Make sure the bolts into the CF are above the step. Good luck - post photos!

Sometimes the masts work loose. The cheap hardware store bracket
installed per the factory is kind of silly and doubtfully capable of
retaining the mast in a roll. (Don’t worry these things just lay down
when it blows hard).
When you have a chance glass a larger center cone onto the hull or
install a deeper ring around the mast, as I did. Seranwrap or a plastic
bag will keep the resin from sticking to the mast if you do it after it
is up.
