Moderator?

Posted by Dave_Benjamin (dave_benjamin@…>)

I just looked up the Moderator and it turns our that his or her email
address is no longer valid. If anyone knows who the moderator is then
we should find out if they are still monitoring the group. If not the
spam could increase. One of the problems with YahooGroups is that if a
moderator disappears noone else can take over. If someone can get in
touch with the moderator and try to get them to add an additional
moderator or two it will be easier to reduce spam. A moderator could
simply remove boni-greenslade and any other objectionable posters. I’m
not a prude but these groups need moderation to be kept on topic.

Prior requests to the moderator have gone
unanswered so we may be stuck.

According to the membership list his email address has the “bouncing”
designation. If noone can recall who set the group up there’s a
decision to be made. We could set up another YahooGroup, perhaps
called FreedomYachts, with multiple moderators. Then it’s a matter of
migrating all the users and resources over. Another thing I noticed is
the Photos section is unreachable, at least for me. If another group
is set up the most important thing is to have good controls and
multiple moderators so this doesn’t happen again. Right now there’s
close to 1000 members. It’s a good sized group with international
participation.

As far as I recall, this group was set up by Freedom Yachts
themselves, after their Bboard had been hacked a few times. Somebody
of their marketing dept. perhaps set up the group.

About the photo section: it’s full. Now nobody can access it
anymore, not even to remove photos.
