new boat in the ryley household

Posted by lance_ryley (lance_ryley@…>)

TW,
the long and short of it is that my wife won’t let me race the house,
so I’m picking up an Elliott 770 (25’ sportboat) to satisfy the itch.
Yes, we’re becoming two-boat owners by choice. I looked at F25s and
even the few F24s on the market but decided there were too many
compromises. And since it’s not a Freedom (though it doesn’t have a
backstay and has a very large-roach main), I won’t take up any more
time on this forum. If you want to know more, just drop me an email.

She
won’t let you race the house? And here I thought she was a thoroughly
sea-going wife.

Oh, she fully supports taking the house to Bermuda, down to the
Chesapeake, eventually to the bahamas (note the southerly, warm
direction) - she’s less supportive of going to Nova Scotia, at least
until we install heat we can use away from the dock. She just doesn’t
want to race the 45 any more formally than what happens when two
sailboats see each other
