New to me F32H & Yanmar wiring

Posted by ron barr (rwhb@…>)

Talking of Yanmar 3 GMF’s I would like to know what
the small blue wire is on the port side which seems to be some kind of sender.
The manual doesn’t help on this. My blue wire runs from the rear of the
engine to the port side and is separated in the middle. Yet as far as I know
all my senders work but???

Ron,

If the wiring hasn’t been modified, there are only 2 blue wires on
the Yanmar 3GMF.

One is Blue with a Red trace. This goes from the tachometer sensor
that is mounted on top of the bell housing goes to the tachometer
itself, this is probably the one you are talking about.
The other is Blue with Black trace and this goes from the alternator
to the charge light on the panel.

Hope this helps.

Bob

Yes it should be.

I have a copy of the Yanmar manual in digital form that govers the 1, 2
and 3 GM series engines.

Unfortunately it is too large to upload to the files section, it about
140MB, but if anyone is interested in a copy, just email me directly.

Try the auction sites (E Bay, etc.) for Yanmar manuals; I found mine
there. The one I have covers the 1,2, and 3 cylinder models. Herm

I have one manual that write in three
languages, a fairly new one, and a parts manual but I just could not find what
the blue wires were for, they have a strange type of connector that not
connected to anything.

On the 2GM20F the Blue wire with the unused connector is there, however only connected when the engine is used with a saildrive…it is shown in the yanmar wiring diagram from the orange/yellow yanmar repair manual…though tonight mine is on my little Island Packet 26 and not here at home. Jerry

Ah, that would be for the water sensor that is there to tell you that
you have a breach in you lower diaphragm seal.

Good catch, I didn’t think to check the sail-drive manual

Yes I have the manual but the wiring for the engine but the
wiring isn’t clear to me.

Thanks very much for the feedback everyone – I am
going to take another look at the engine wires.
