Thanks for the fast and informative responses. You’ve all given me
some good information. I was able to take an F-21 out briefly this
afternoon. I could feel right away that it’s very quick and easy to
handle. Lot of lines! I knew that, but I was still impressed. Still,
I’m sure I’d learn them all quickly enough.
John, what size outboard did you have? The boat I was on had a 4.5,
which died on the way in. The salesman (who really didn’t know much
about Freedoms) was saying I’d need at least an 8HP for sailing in
Boston Harbor or going through the Cape Cod Canal. Any opinion?
As for the rest of the boat, I was struck that even with the 8’ beam,
it was snug for my size (6’). But still a possibility.
Loved the way it handled, though. I’ve been sailing J-22s and the F21
seems both fast and have good initial stability.
Thanks again for everyone’s input.
Bill
