pad eyes for F25 mast base blocks

Posted by fgljff (fgljff@…>)

When I was rigging my F25 I noticed for the first time that where there was once
a pad eye at
the mast base (for the first reef line block), there was now a single hole in
the deck. I’m
assuming, first, that the deck surrounding the mast is not cored but is solid
fiberglass (I
hope). So I’m assuming, secondly, that I can simply fill the hole with
marine-tex and then
drill four new holes to install a pad eye. If i’m wrong in these assumptions,
please let me
know. Here’s my question, now; what size pad eye should I install for the reef
block. And is
the block supposed to be a Harken H023 dingy block? Does anyone know?

The F-25 manual (in the ‘files’ section of this group) has the drawings and bill
of materials
(and lots more). The BOM shows Harken #166 and a #023 blocks for each reef line.

So the H166’s go on the sale cringles and the larger H023’s are mounted on the
deck?
Also, is the deck solid fiberglass at the mast base where the blocks attach?

Hello,

Just to warn you that the mast ring is NOT solid fibreglass but a very
poor balsa core. The mast ring on my Isle of Man built F25 is now very
badly cracked and will have to be replaced this winter. Thank God I work
in a large boat yard and this work will be carried out just for the net
cost of the materials involved!
