Paul Dennis - a good resource?

Posted by tournemountain (tournemountain@…>)

I have had several people tell me that we should check with Paul
Dennis, formerly of Freeom, on the water intrusion question, perhaps
even see if we can get him to go look at the boat in question. Does
anyone know him? What is his reputation? Thanks. Evelyn

Paul Dennis is a GREAT resource. I had problems with a ‘retrofitted’ stuffing box on my F38 and he did a great job replacing it (back to somewhat of the original design)! I will not have anyone else work on my boat as he really is the expert. He really knows Freedoms which is great as there is no one left at Freedom Yachts that will help out with any sailboat-related customer service. If you need his contact info, let me know! Evelyn:

You simply will not be able to fine a person who is more honest,
pleasant, hard working and knowledgeable about Freedoms. Truly, I
can’t recommend Paul highly enough. So much so that we now plan to
travel a fair distance from home to winter with Paul alternating
winters so that he can attend to our Freedom 45. You can’t go wrong
with Paul.

Good luck,

DG

Here is some information: Paul Denis formerly ran the Freedom Yacht plant. He presently owns and operates Warren River Boat Works in Warren, Rhode Island. Phone number is 401 245-6949. He was recommendd to me recently by Freedom Yachts. His name also came up from GMT Composite as very knowledgeable on Freedom Yachts. I have talked with him personally and he is very helpful and also pleasant. Hope this helps. goldbdan <goldbdan@…> wrote: Evelyn:You simply will not be able to fine a person who is more honest, pleasant, hard working and knowledgeable about Freedoms. It is great to see all the wonderful comments re Paul Dennis.

I have a suggestion. After all of you good folks have talked with
Paul and received his gracious advice and answers to your questions,
note the amount of time he spent with you, add 10-15 or more minutes
for the interruption. Now think about your favorite doctor,
plumber, accountant or attorney and what that time with them would
have cost you and then send Paul a check.

I do not know Mr. Dennis personally and have no connection with his
business but I know how hard it is for even skilled people to make
it in the boat business.

Thanks for your consideration.

Stan makes a good point. I offered to pay Paul for time spent talking to me about re-doing my plumging and putting in a new and larger holding tank for my F-38. Instead, and to my delight, he suggested that I order a “custom” tank from him and he would deal with the California manufacturer and have it shipped to my yard on Chesapeake, along with his drawings for installation on another F-38. He did that, and it worked out great for me, my yard, and Paul himself since he made money on the deal! Paul is indeed a great “resource” and we need to take care of him.
