That
looks like a great set-up, but the absence of a lockable Y valve means that it
does not comply with CG regulations. (For those who haven’t looked
yet, the owner used a series of valves to direct waste to the holding tank or
overboard.) You need to be able to lock the valve in the holding tank position.
I’m sure that the system shown could be amended to include a locked
valve.

That’s correct Al,One can also comply by locking the discharge thru-hull and that can be done with some imaginative use of epoxy and a hasp. What we are doing on Marquesa is very simple and yet in compliance along the lines of the system outlined in this article. I’ll photo our setup when I finish it. Southwinds article I have installed a vented loop in the intake and discharge lines though… perhaps I’ve been over cautious but those siphon brakes just let me sleep better. I have not done the forward cabin head yet.
